Run the Race with Endurance, Hebrews 4:14-16

I. You run the race with endurance by knowing Jesus as the Great High Priest (v.14).
A. Highlight the word "Great," it is being used to set Jesus Christ apart from all
other high priests!
B. Aaron, who was the first "high Priest," was considered by the jews to be the
greatest of the "high priests."
C. But this passage is declaring that Jesus Christ is the greatest "High Priest"
D. He is the greatest High Priest for two reasons.
1. Jesus Christ has gone through the heavens.
2. Jesus Christ is "Jesus the Son of God."
II. You run the race with endurance by knowing Jesus as the sympathetic High Priest (v.15-16).
A. We have a High Priest who feels with us (v.15)!!
B. We have a High Priest who was tempted in every way just like we are, yet He
was without sin (v.15)!!
C. Therefore we can call upon God boldly (v.16)
1. To obtain the mercy of God
2. To find grace to help in time of need |
